Hey, I've been thinking a lot about have a custom guitar built. It really doesn't matter because I have no money for such things at the moment. I'm looking for somthing other than the big 2 (ESP, Jackson) mainly because of the prices. So far I like Ran Guitars. This is the type of company I'm looking for...guitars built for metal, affordable prices. Check them out: www.ranguitars.comBig thanks to Mike for the link! -C

Hey, I know this isn't a custom... but I bet you dig this USA Jackson Some guy is trying to sell it over at Harmony Central I guess in person that Flame looks 3-D. One of the only V's I have truly has a thing for.

Yep, that's pretty much what I'm looking for. Love the finish too. Not sure about the floating trem. Also not a huge fan of the sharkfins. But I'd buy it in a second if I had the cash.

...and, here's some more the KxK guy has built... i can't seem to find the new V7 he's getting built. it's kinda like that white one, but the fins are more rounded, and it will have an OFR-7.

i've always preferred V's with the 3x3 (or 4x3 ) arrowhead headstocks, rather than the inline tuners. which do you plan on getting?

I actually like the reversed KXK headstock or the reversed ESP. I just like the looks. I also like it when the strings go straight to the tuning pegs. You can see this in the close-up of the white KXK headstock. You'll notice on the RAN pic that the strings fan out slightly after passing through the nut. I would think this would put lateral tension on the saddles of the nut. This is not a big deal at all...I guess it bothers me from a "practical design/engineering" point of view.
If I had the option of designing my own, It would look like a reverse Jackson with less angle (more like an Ibanez). I tried some time ago to model a guitar is a 3D program. I'll see if I can dig up a pick.

Here's an example of a headstock idea. I'm not sure I would enjoy playing a guitar like this (like a Steinberger), I just wanted to see if I could make a guitar look like a weapon by using a headstock in place of a body. Looks pretty much like the Ibanez head without the little dent at the end. I'll see If I can design what I want using this 3D program (Rhino).
