Over the years I've had the opportunity to use some great free music software. Please post links a descriptions of free music software that has worked well for you. Buzz (Windows only) www.buzzmachines.com (might be down at the moment, check the wiki) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeskola_BuzzI've often said that Buzz can do everything Reason can and more. It's totally free. The catch: it doesn't look pretty and can be difficult to get the hang of. Just like Reason, it has three main views. There's a "machine view" that allows you to connect different hardware and effects together. There's an "edit mode" where you can enter in note and control information for each machine. Finally there is an "arrange view" that allows you to put together different chunks into a song. This is one of those programs that most people wont use because they're not willing to put in the time it will take to figure it out. I suggest you go to Reason's website first and read about what it can do. Then go to the Buzz site and understand that it can do that stuff too and it's totally free. Once you get started on it, you may become addicted! Audacity (Windows, Mac, Linux) audacity.sourceforge.net/This is one of the best free audio editors out there. It's reminds me a lot of Sony Soundforge. If you know what you're doing, you can use this program to sample an entire drum kit and then use Buzz to sequence it back. Free realistic drums! -C
