We're heading to the studio tonight to start recording drums for our next CD. The working title is "CPU Assassins". Looks for samples soon!

We have recorded all the drum parts. Now it's time to mix them, then add the sequenced parts and guitars. This is without a doubt going to me the most technical and complicated CD yet.

I've been tinkering a lot with Amplitube lately. I'm not happy with the rhythm tracks on Computer Failure. I've been working with Amplitube 2 and Amplitube Metal to try and find a new sound. So far it's been pretty cool but my computer is not quit up to snuff so it crashes a lot. Plus it's not fast enough for me to play through in real time so I have to record a "dry" guitar track first. I'm having trouble getting it to sound exactly like I want. I'm going to hook up my rig in the basement and try a few mic placements. It will be a little more work to get a consistent sound but I think it will be worth it in the end. In the meantime, if any body out there has any Amplitube patches they'd be willing to share that'd be great.

Amplitube's kinda hit and miss. It sounds good, but you have to have a good I/O interface to get the latency down. I've been more than satisfied with my Line 6 Toneport and have made some pretty awesome patches, and with the Metal Shop pack you can pretty much get whatever sound you want out of it, all with pretty much zero latency and low processing power needed. Only real drawback was that the tweaking aspect was quite a bit different from my Digitech GNX 3 (which is also great for amp modeling, etc.) so it kinda had a learning curve to it, but after a month or two of making patches it gets pretty easy to tweak around with amp parameters.

I've been busy rerecording rhythm tracks and remixing. I've been listening to the two tracks that are done against other peoples stuff and making little tweaks. Another song is in the works, but I'm busy rehearsing for our upcoming shows. I wasn't happy with the way I played at our last show so I'm working working working.
